Ratan Tata, the former chairman of Tata Sons, is one of those few industrialists who are known for not just their business acumen but also their humanitarian outlook towards the society. He is one of the gems of Indian business world who have inspired many till now and it won’t be wrong to say that there is a lot to learn from his life for common public.

Ratan Tata is 82 years old now but he is still pretty active in the charity work even today. His great grandfather founded the Tata group, Ratan joined his family business in 1961 and became the chairman in 1991 after the retirement of J.R.D. Tata. He served as the chairman for nearly 21 years and under his leadership, the Tata Group grew manifold. He was behind some of the boldest decisions taken by the Tata Group, such as acquisition of Jaguar Land Rover by Tata Motors, acquisition of Tetley by Tata Tea and acquisition of Corus by Tata Steel.

In simple words, Ratan Tata devoted his life in serving the company and the society. Talking about his personal life, he never got married but once he said that he came very near to getting married four times.

Recently, while interacting with a Facebook page ‘Humans of Bombay’, Ratan Tata revealed that after completing his studies, he got a job in an architecture firm in Los Angeles. Everything was going great, the weather was great, he had a car and he was in love as well. But he had to shift back, for at least some time, as his grandmother was not well for almost 7 years. He thought that the girl would shift to India with him but her parents didn’t allow her because of the Indo-China war and the relationship ended.

Ratan Tata spilled the beans on his love life on the eve of Valentine’s Day and also spoke about how he and his elder brother got ragged because of the divorce of his parents, which was pretty uncommon in those days. Ratan Tata was very close to his grandmother and said that it was she who supported him when his father was pressing him to take up a career which he never wanted to.

Well, that’s an interesting part of Ratan Tata’s life and we would always love to know more about him!
