Cyberpunk Secret Ending

The Bizarrely Specific Path To Cyberpunk 2077’s Secret Ending Is Confirmed By CDPR

Cyberpunk secret ending : I haven’t read a hardcopy gaming “guide” in a long time, since the days of those massive, colourful volumes that showed me how to beat the Water Temple in Ocarina of Time.

However, despite the internet’s arrival, they continue to exist, and something particularly fascinating has emerged with the Cyberpunk 2077 guide from Piggyback Games, one of the biggest guide publishers these days.

In order to compose their extensive guides in time for the game’s release, guide-writers frequently acquire very special, highly classified early access to the game.

However, while Piggyback was aware of Cyberpunk 2077’s secret ending, CDPR had amended one of its prerequisites at the last minute, causing following that guide to frequently result in you missing the ending due to a missing piece of knowledge.

On Reddit, u/Esper01 contacted Piggyback, who then spoke with CDPR regarding the ending’s missing element. Here’s what they had to say:

“I appreciate your email. CD Projekt Red has been contacted to clarify the situation.

It turns out that the secret ending’s availability was altered by the development team.

One more criterion has been added, albeit it has nothing to do with your overall synergy percentage with Johnny.

In summary, when you have a long talk with Johnny near his tomb in the oil fields during SJ-35 (“Chippin’ In”), you must now follow a very precise dialogue path to unlock the secret ending, as seen in the graphic below.

The premise is that if you are too harsh or too polite with Johnny, he will not regard you as a true friend. To acquire his full regard and friendship, you must be truthful.”

Many players have discovered that this specific conversation is required to unlock the secret ending through trial and error, but this is the first time I’ve heard CDPR confirm that the sequence is required for the secret ending regardless of what else you do in the game, and that it was apparently added as a last-minute change to make the secret ending more difficult.

Many players chose “wrong” in this chat, resulting in their Johnny percentage remaining too low at 60%, while it should be lower, at 50%, or higher, at 70%, and you must select extremely particular conversation options in this one scenario to unlock it.

It’s also been established that no other dialogue choice in the game has any bearing on the hidden ending.

To summarise (spoilers ahead), here’s how you acquire the hidden ending:

When you’re late in the game and trying to locate Johnny’s body in the oil fields, you’ll have this discussion with him.

You must first decide whether you will write “the guy who saved my life on this tombstone” on the tombstone, and then choose one of the conversational paths below for the rest of the conversation.

Click here if you can’t read it because it’s too small. In summary, after charming Johnny with his gravestone inscription, you must be fairly tough with him at this phase.

CDPR has engineered it so that if you don’t follow this exact process, you won’t be able to access the secret ending no matter what you do, and you’ll have to start over.

After that, complete all of the Johnny-related sidequests, and then choose the Johnny and Rogue ending during the final roof sequence where Johnny lays out your options, but don’t confirm it.

Simply sit for a few minutes, and Johnny will devise a new “Blaze of Glory” plan, which is the (very difficult) hidden ending for which you should probably be at max level.

If you die in the middle of it, it will finish on its own, so be careful.

So, there’s a strange secret way here, which CDPR has now validated. Enjoy.
