Naidu urges DGP to take ‘partisan’ policemen to task

Alleging large-scale violence and violations of the poll code in two panchayats in East Godavari district, by the YSR Congress Party leaders and activists, in collusion with a section of the local police, the national president of the TDP N. Chandrababu Naidu has urged the law enforcement department to rein in their ‘erring staff’. In a letter to the Director General of Police Gautam Sawang, Mr. Naidu accused the YSRCP-backed candidates in Illapalli panchayat in Biccavolu mandal and Anaparty panchayat in Anaparty Assembly segment of harassing the candidates backed by the opposition parties and having false cases booked against them, in collusion with a section of the local police personnel. Valley teen still battling COVID-19 symptoms more than one year later

A Valley teen is still battling the symptoms of COVID-19 more than a year after contracting the virus. Lydia Pastore, a 16-year-old junior at Red Mountain High School became incredibly sick in February 2020. For the past year, she has experienced intense fatigue, body aches, and a slew of other symptoms ranging from burning eyes and face to hand tremors. “That was the worst sickness that I had ever endured in my life,” said Lydia. “It’s just been constant muscle aches and fatigue where I just can’t snap out of it. Walking to the end of my driveway, it would exhaust me to the point of having to recover for two days. All year long, Lydia was plagued by chronic fatigue, sleeping on average 15 hours a day. J&J vaccine expected in Utah Wednesday; 7,200 ineligible vaccine appointments canceled

SALT LAKE CITY — Gov. Spencer Cox said Utah will start recieving the newly approved vaccine from Johnson & Johnson on Wednesday. “So many have suffered through this pandemic,” Cox said. “A third authorized vaccine tells me that even through some of our darkest times, miracles still happen.” The vaccine is authorized for people 18 years old and older, but the Utah vaccines will be distributed according to the eligibility standards already in place, according to Cox’s office. The Utah Department of Health is working to correct an error that allowed 7,200 ineligible Utahns to schedule vaccine appointments. “An error in the registration system at Vaccinate.Utah.Gov allowed Utah residents who are not currently eligible to receive the COVID-19 vaccine to schedule appointments,” the department said in a statement. “Approximately 7,200 people who do not meet eligibility requirements were able to make appointments.” The ineligible appointments will be canceled over the next 24 hours, ...

Norms set for COVID-19 jab in private hospitals

Vaccine to be given free of cost in govt. facilities People who opt COVID-19 vaccination at private hospitals will have to pay a maximum of ₹250 per dose. Since two doses of the vaccine have to be taken with a 28-day gap in between, the total vaccination will cost ₹500. The jabs will be given free of cost at government hospitals or vaccination sites. Director of Public Health G. Srinivasa Rao said the amount of ₹250 includes ₹150 for the vaccine and ₹100 as service charge. The vaccine amount will be transferred from private hospitals to the government.
