World Cup Winner Madan Lal Demands Rishabh Pant’s Exclusion, Wasim Jaffer Gives An Apt Reply | RVCJS
The young Indian cricketer Rishabh Pant is constantly getting slammed for his poor batting performances on the South African tour and the manner in which he threw his wicket in the second innings of the second test match attracted huge amount of criticism. The second test match between India and South Africa was played at the Wanderers in Johannesburg and the hosts managed to level the 3-match series by 1-1 as they emerged victorious in this test match.
Rishabh Pant tried to hit a big shot on the bowling of Kagiso Rabada and lost his wicket by giving a catch to the wicketkeeper. What irked the former cricketers and cricket lovers was that India needed someone to stay on the crease and develop a partnership instead of hitting big shots straightway. Rishabh Pant got out on the third ball that he faced but if he had batted sensibly and scored some useful runs, India might have managed to draw the match, if not won it.
The former Indian cricketer Madan Lal who was a part of the 1983 World Cup winning team is also pretty upset with Rishabh Pant and he demanded that Rishabh Pant should be excluded from the team as he plays for himself and not for the team. Madan Lal suggests that the veteran wicketkeeper-batsman Wriddhiman Saha should be included in the playing XI in place of Pant.
Another former Indian cricketer Wasim Jaffer didn’t agree with Madan Lal and stated that the head coach Rahul Dravid and skipper Virat Kohli must have talked to Rishabh Pant regarding his approach and he should remain in the team because he is an X-factor, match winner and a better batsman than Saha.
The third and the final test match will start from tomorrow at Newlands Cricket Ground, Cape Town, and the team winning this match will also be the winner of the series.
