Gas Leak at Visakhapatnam Factory, 2 Died
Two workers died and four others were hospitalised after gas leaked last night at a pharmaceutical unit in Andhra Pradesh’ Visakhapatnam. The leakage of benzimidazole gas was reported from Sainor Life Sciences Pvt Ltd in Vizag. The police revealed thatThe situation at the factory is now under control. The two persons who died were workers and were present at the leakage site.
According to the official, the pharmaceutical unit in the industrial port city’s Parwada area was shut down immediately as a precautionary measure after the leakage of benzimidazole gas was reported at around 11:30 pm.
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has sought information about the incident of gas leak at Visakhapatnam Factory. The statement released by CMO office, read, “The accident is confined to a department in which there is a reactor. There is no need to panic. The district collector has ordered an inquiry into the matter.”
YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has ordered to provide the best medical treatment to the workers in the hospital.
Coming in the wake of the gas leak mishap at the LG polymers chemical plant in RR Venkatapuram village in Visakhapatnam, in the month of May this year, the incident had caused panic in the city. A total of 12 persons had died and around 1000 persons had to be treated for the effects of styrene gas inhalation in the mishap.
