However, NEET 2019 has got a little more importance than that for any other year, as this is the first time when CBSE will not be conducting it. This year, a newly formed agency named National Testing Agency is the conducting authority for NEET 2019.

The new conducting authority has already released the notification for the exam and registrations are going on. Well, if you still have some doubts regarding the exam, we are going to tell you the 10 most important things that you should know about NEET 2019. So lets us not waste any time and quickly take you through those 10 points. Here we go: –

NEET 2019: What Are The Dates?

The official notification has clarified the timeline for the exam. The registrations for NEET 2019 have begun on 1st November 2018. Registrations will be open till the end of this month, i.e. till 30th November 2018.

The admit cards will be released on 15th April, 2019. The exam will be conducted on 5th May 2019. Candidates can expect their results by 5th June 2019.

NEET 2019: Where to Fill the Form?

To apply for NEET 2019, candidates can reach the official website of the National Testing Agency, i.e. www.nta.ac.in. On the homepage, there is a link mentioned as “Fill Application Form:  NEET (UG) – 2019.” Candidates need to click on this link and they will be redirected to the page which hosts the application form. Here, candidates can click on “Fill Application Form” option to apply for the exam.

NEET 2019: Who All Can Appear for the Exam?

Candidates need to adhere to the eligibility criteria to appear for NEET 2019. The groups eligible to apply for NEET 2019 include Indian Nationals, NRIs, OCIs, PIOs, and foreign nationals. A candidate needs to have a minimum age of 17 years, as on 31st December 2019, to apply for NEET 2019. On the upper side, a candidate from General category can have an age up to 25 years and other categories can have up to 30 years.

The candidate should have completed Class 12th or equivalent to apply for the exam. Candidates who have appeared for the exam of Class 12 and are awaiting results can also appear. Further, the candidate must have score minimum 50% marks in PCB subjects, if he/she belongs to general category. This percentage is 45% for general PH and 40% for other categories.

NEET 2019: What is the Examination Format?

NEET 2019 is conducted once in a year, and in an offline mode (i.e. pen and paper format).

The exam duration is three hours. NEET 2019 will have 180 questions, divided into three sections, named Physics, Chemistry and Biology (Zoology and Botany). First two sections, Physics and Chemistry have 45 questions each. While the Biology section has 90 questions, divided equally into sub-parts Zoology and Botany.

Each question in the exam carries 4 marks. There is negative marking too, under which 1 mark is deducted for each incorrect answer.

NEET 2019: What is the Syllabus?

Syllabus for NEET 2019 is as per the common syllabus notified by Medical Council of India. It is based on what students study in Class XI and XII. To read the official syllabus, candidates can read the official Information Bulletin available on the NTA website.

NEET 2019: Is the Exam Conducted in English Medium Only?

NEET 2019 is conducted in both English and Hindi language. On top of that, it is conducted in some vernacular languages too. These include Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Marathi, Odia, Tamil, Telugu and Urdu. However, the vernacular language media are not available nation-wide and are available in a particular states only.

NEET 2019: Where Can I Appear for the Exam?

NTA has notified the list of examination centers for NEET 2019 in its official bulletin. Candidates can enter their preferred examination centers in the application form. However, the centers are allocated randomly and one has to appear for the exam in the center allotted.

NEET 2019: How are Seats Allotted After the Exam?

The seats are allotted on the basis of scores obtained by candidates in the exam and the respective NEET Cutoff. Candidates can either apply for State Quota or the All India Quota. However, the Cutoff can be different for such quotas. Further, candidates must also know that there are different conducting authorities for State Quotas and National Quota.

NEET 2019: When Will the Counselling Start?

The counselling process generally starts after the results are declared. For NEET 2019, the process may start on 12th June 2019. The counselling process continues till the month of August.

NEET 2019: What Should You Carry While Going for the Exam?

There are three major items needed to be carried while going for the exam. First is the Admit Card for NEET 2019, second is a passport sized photo and the third one is a photo ID proof (in original).

Also, the exam time is 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM, and no one shall be allowed to enter the exam room after 1.30 PM. Therefore, the candidates must reach before time to avoid any discrepancies. Further, the candidate must also not carry barred items like mobile phones and watches.
